The World Money Fair is the largest coin fair in the world, held every year in Berlin at the turn of January into February. It is the industry's flagship gathering: state and private mints, central banks, auction houses, coin producers, minting-technology specialists and dealers all share one floor. More than 300 exhibitors — including mints and national banks from around 50 nations — present at the Estrel Congress Center across the three-day event.
For collectors it is the single best place to see the year's new issues from the world's mints under one roof, often before they reach the wider market.
The fair was founded in 1972 by the Swiss organiser Albert Beck and was originally held in Basel, Switzerland. In 2006 it moved to Berlin, where it has grown into the definitive annual meeting point for the global minting industry.
A highlight is the Technical Forum, where minting professionals from around the world present the latest production techniques and innovations — a working conference that runs alongside the public bourse. Expect prominent national-mint stands, new-issue launches, and the industry's calendar of announcements clustered around the fair.
The bourse itself is open to the public over three days, with hundreds of dealer and mint tables spanning modern issues, bullion and world coins.
