About NanyaDarshini

NanyaDarshini is the annual flagship exhibition of the Karnataka Numismatic Society (KNS; Kannada: Kannadanadu Nanya Sangha), held in Bengaluru. The three-day show brings together collectors, dealers and auction houses for a public display of Indian ancient, medieval and colonial coins, banknotes and stamps alongside international numismatic material.

KNS was founded on 6 August 1974 and is one of India's most respected state numismatic societies, with monthly meetings drawing 75 to 100 members.

History

Karnataka Numismatic Society was established on 6 August 1974, with Sri Bryon Hannon as its inaugural president and seventeen founding members. The society has held NanyaDarshini as its public exhibition for many years; a 2017 edition is documented, and the show resumed after a pandemic-related hiatus with its 2022 edition — described as its first since the outbreak — drawing around 2,000 visitors.

What to Expect

Expect a three-day bourse and display of Indian ancient, medieval and colonial coins and currencies alongside stamps and collectibles, contributed by participating collectors and dealers. Major Indian auction houses — including Todywalla, Imperial and Bombay Auction — have featured at past editions. The 2023 edition was held at Shikshaka Sadan on K.G. Road, Bengaluru.
